Title: Tidal Memory
Description:
Tidal Memory visualizes the inner tide of emotion—the rhythm of feelings that rise, recede, and return anew. In this work, Elara Duvall likens the motion of emotion to “the memory of water,” depicting how the echoes of past experiences flow into the creation of new feelings. The interwoven streams of lavender and turquoise cascading from above symbolize the faint afterimages of forgotten emotions and the resurgence of memory. The soft, foaming brush traces resemble ripples of time—marks left by emotions that once touched the surface and slowly dissolved.
Through her layered chromatic technique, Duvall explores the temperature of memory. The cool blues reflect introspection and emotional depth, while the warm oranges convey the quiet heat of recovery that follows. Within her emotional spectrum, this union of tones embodies what she calls “Repose After Storm.” Tidal Memory thus becomes a meditation on remembrance, healing, and the cyclical grace of emotional renewal.
